Concerts in the Park Series
Ladysmith is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty and one of the nicest spots is at Ladysmith’s Transfer Beach Park, on the east side of the Island Highway. The park features harbour frontage and is family oriented with lots of picnic space, a swimming beach and a play area for kids. Our Concerts in the Park are held in the outdoor amphitheatre which hosts logger sports during Ladysmith Days and an array of other events throughout the year.
Beginning in 2000 to the present time, the Ladysmith Resources Centre has booked music concerts at the amphitheatre that appeal to a broad base of the population. The venue is superb with the backdrop of the harbour, boats cruising by, grassy lawn, flowerbeds and a large seating area protected by mature maples overhead. Part of the enjoyment and pleasure of the concerts is the outdoors atmosphere with warm summer days and evenings and the idyllic panorama of ocean and green space. Often, kayakers, pleasure yachts, and sail boaters will pause in their travels to listen to the concerts from water side.
Admission to the concerts is by donation and volunteers circulate through the audience during the performance to collect. All donation money is earmarked for our programs which allow participants to attend the programs at no cost to them.
The financial support of local business people enables us to pay the fees of the musicians and other related costs. Support of the local community is excellent and we thank them most sincerely for their generosity.
