Seniors Office
The Mission of the Seniors Office: is to co-ordinate, facilitate and provide community services and information in order to enhance physical, mental, and emotional health and well being of Seniors in Ladysmith and area.
The Objectives of the Seniors Office: is to help keep seniors healthy, safe, and secure in their own homes for as long as possible and to reach lonely, isolated and shut-in seniors
The Mandate of the Seniors Office: is to provide seniors with information and how to access existing programs and services With opportunities for seniors themselves to identify, plan and implement new programs or services needed for seniors. To advocate for changes that will improve the Health and Lifestyle of Ladysmith and area seniors. To share with other agencies and identify areas of unmet needs or gaps in services to prevent duplication of services.
The Activities of the Seniors Office work to assist seniors with many and varied problems, concerns and issues that can cause anxiety, poor physical and mental health and even hospitalization if not resolved.
The Seniors Office serves people 55 years of age and older. (Except for issues regarding Provincial Social Assistance, E.I.). At least three days a week, the Office provides confidential one-on-one meetings - in the Office, in the senior's home or by telephone, to help resolve any problem that the senior might have.
Of the seventy-five topics resolved last year the top Five Problem Areas: Health, Financial, Housing, Transportation and Personal (safety, legal, and abuse.)
We offer assistance, options, referrals, forms, advocacy and educational material.
