Volunteer Information
We have many volunteer opportunities available – some with children, youth and seniors; if you have some spare time – be it an hour, ½ day or more we invite you to contact us to see if we can work together utilizing your skills and experience in some rewarding way! It is the aim of the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association to support and promote a strong volunteer spirit. As a volunteer you contribute to the community on your terms in your time and skill level. As an organization we welcome your support and willingness to assist us and endeavor to fit you wherever your strengths may lie.
Your requirements -
Come into the office and fill out a Volunteer Application. By law anyone working with children or seniors is required to fill out a Criminal Records Check. Volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas.Transportation
Drivers are needed to take seniors and people of low income without transportation to medical appointments. If you have a vehicle and are willing to provide a ride to someone or you are willing to drive the community van please contact Barb at the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association. 250-245-3079
Bingo
Do you enjoy working with people and have a few hours one evening per week available? We run a weekly bingo at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 9:30 pm. We need helpers who can work on the floor doing call backs, clean tables, sell cards and assist with all other duties involved in running a bingo. Our bingo is a small community run and community supported event and we have a lot of fun. Contact 250-245-3079 for further information.
Gardening
Are you a gardener? Do you like flowers and shrubs and have a little time to spare or perhaps you live in an apartment complex without your own garden? We have a garden if you have the time! We need someone to help weed and maintain our flowerbeds and lawns. We supply the tools. Phone Barb at 250-245-3079
Seniors Office
This is a rewarding position within the Association working from the Seniors office. We are looking for volunteers to work in many rewarding ways helping seniors. Volunteers would be responsible for phoning for various seniors' events, be involved in the Friendly Visitors Program, Phoning Tree, and the 49th Parallel Phoners and many other events.
